Vientiane, 12 September 2019 – The Australian Embassy and the Laos Australia Institute hosted a public panel discussion entitled ‘OzTalk: Children and Youth Mental Well-Being’.
The event was open to all and was well attended by over 120 people. OzTalk is an initiative of the Australian Aid program, offering an opportunity for Lao Australian alumni and invited guests to discuss relevant issues. The Australian Embassy was pleased so many people are focused on the importance of child and youth mental health. Participants reflected that despite the cultural and societal differences between Australia and Laos, the potential support for people experiencing mental health issues include reaching out with compassion and encouraging people to gain health support when they need it. Bringing more understanding about each other’s differences enriches not the only individual’s healthy mental state, but also society as a whole.
