On #InternationalLiteracy Day, we proudly celebrate the contribution Australia Alumni are making to advancing literacy and education in Laos.
Alumni like Soukdalone ‘Lon’ Phommathep who completed a Bachelor of Education at Monash University and has returned to Laos with new perspectives and a deep passion for education.
Lon founded Lab Langban International School - ໂຮງຮຽນນານາຊາດແລັບຫຼັງບ້ານ in Vientiane, embracing the Reggio Emilia approach to foster play-based, child-centered learning. As principal, Lon leads her team in creating joyful and meaningful educational experiences for children, while also supporting teachers through policy reform and training on the national curriculum.
These efforts not only empower individuals with the skills needed to thrive but also foster sustainable development and social equity — core values at the heart of International Literacy Day.
